Peter brings over 25 years of experience in the coastal and marine sector, with a strong background in environmental management, policy and sustainable development. He began his career with the Environment Agency, where he held a number of senior roles. Between 1996 and 2001, he led the Agency’s work across the Humber Estuary, developing a major strategy spanning multiple functions, including flood defence and conservation.

In 2001, Peter joined Associated British Ports as Sustainable Development Manager. There, he developed environmental management frameworks for all 21 ABP ports. His work on balancing port development with conservation was recognised by Natural England as best practice in sustainable development.

Peter later established and ran a successful environmental consultancy for 10 years, working across the marine and coastal environment with both public and private sector clients. During this time, he also served as Liaison Officer for ESCA and managed the Seabed Users & Developer Group (SUDG), before becoming its Chair in 2020.

As Chair of the Coastal Partnerships Network (CPN), Peter has played a key role in its development. Working alongside Amy Pryor and the Board of Trustees, he has helped guide CPN to becoming a fully incorporated Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
